PROBLEM STATEMENTS
BANGSAR SOUTH, KAMPUNG KERINCHI
Design Research Question:
“How can a lifeless urban corridor be activated and be part of a city social network, while strengthening connections to urban neighbourhood?”

Ideally, Kampung Kerinchi seems to be part of the Bangsar’s established city social network considering its strategic location branching out from the city centre with the numbers of office blocks. Thus, to use the word ‘Lifeless’ is to describe the current urban corridor’s characteristics. The spaces has relatively minimal social interaction and community engagement. Basically, the main function of the urban corridor is to serve as pedestrian thoroughfare connecting southen side of Bangsar to the city centre.

At least, the pedestrian link bridge which connected to the Kerinchi station is occupied by the office workers on daytime and late evening daily. When after the working hour, the pedestrian link bridge which connected to opposite side would become a ‘dead end’ at night.

The challenges of what RTM facing today was the popularities of RTM toward public is gettign lesser and the programs is disconnected to our current general viewer today, due to the advance technology today. Thus, the image of RTM has to be retained as it was represent Malaysia. It grew along with our development of Malaysia until today. Which owns a very rich asset of Malaysia history and equipments.

SOCIAL ISSUES
We Never Talk Anymore: The Problem with the advance social media today.
"TECHNOLOGY IS REPLACING PERSONAL INTERACTIONS"

ISSUES

The cost is the younger generation today have no idea of how to interact and actually read someone's face. "We can't do that on facebook", say Dave.

We are awash in technology. There are almost one-third of the people are using so-called smartphones, which means the users can browse the web and check the e-mail on their smartphones.

In other words, most of us are spend our days walking around with our head down buried in our cell phones. And while we’re doing that, we’re turning out the people who are in the same room with us.

Some of the experts say it’s time to take a step back and reassess. They’re reminding people that technology can be turned off, and to connect with people in person is more important than texting over the phones.
Design Strategy
Urban Third Space
The idea of third space is used as the strategy to overcome the environment and cultural interactive issues in order to release the tension formed in urban area. Fraser (2012), in his book 'The Third Space', demonstrated that the efficient way to overcome the stress and baggage from previous environment is through the involvement in the third space. Through the process of reflect, rest and rest in the environment of third space, improvement in behavior and interactions will lead to an overall balance.

The first space is the role/environment we are in now. The second space is the role/environment we are transitioning into. We can use the third space to ensure that we get over what we have just been through and show up with a mindset that will suit what is coming next. Third space could change your life (Fraser, 2012).
Design Implementation Strategy
Human Library
A Human Library is an event that aims to create dialogue and understanding between people. Individuals volunteer as human ‘books’ and participants in the event can ‘read’ the book (meaning they would have a one on one conversation with the colunteer and share in a dialogue about individual’s experience.
